Your First Visit
X-RAYS
If
your consultation and examination findings indicate that your
condition may respond to chiropractic care, x-rays will be taken
at that time. X-rays are needed for the following
reasons:
1) to analyze the spine for alignment and posture and to detect
spinal curvatures;
2) to detect spinal degeneration and osteoarthritis;
3) to detect and rule out fractures and pathological conditions.
This information guides the doctor in performing an effective
spinal adjustment.
Since 2006, we have offered digital x-ray to our patients. We
were the first clinic in West Michigan to offer this to the community.
One of the many great features of digital x-ray is the ability
to compare an old x-ray to a new x-ray in side by side comparison.
This makes it easy for the doctor and patient to see structural
changes, postural changes and degenerative changes. If you have
not had an x-ray in the last year, please call our office to
schedule an x-ray and make an appointment with one of the doctors
to review your x-rays with you. Almost all insurance provide
coverage for one set of x-rays per year for monitoring spinal
conditions.
The x-rays will be reviewed with you to verify the location of
any subluxations (misaligned vertebrae that damage the nerves
and surrounding tissues and adversely affect your health.)
CONSULTATION/EXAM
Information is gathered to gain an understanding of the onset,
duration and nature of your condition. You will receive a thorough
examination consisting of chiropractic, neurological and orthopedic
tests to evaluate the extent of your condition and
to determine if the complaint may respond to chiropractic care.
DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT PLAN
Based on your history, examination and x-ray findings, it will
be determined if chiropractic care can help your condition. If chiropractic
care is not suitable for your condition, we readily refer patients
to the appropriate health care provider. If you choose to become
a patient at Parkhurst Chiropractic, a personalized treatment
plan will be developed for you. Treatment methods may include
spinal manipulations, traction and an exercise plan aimed at
building flexibility, strength and overall well-being in addition
to nutritional and body-mechanics counseling. |
