Parkhurst Chiropractic and Lakeshore Wellness Center Mind, Body, Spirit

Parkhurst Chiropractic is pleased to offer a unique relaxation experience through the use of hydromassagers and massage chairs. The machines and benefits are described below:

HYDROMASSAGER
What it does:
  • Combines flotation, thermo-therapy and whirlpool-type massage.
  • Increases local blood supply to soft tissue, muscles and joints.
  • Relaxes muscles while reducing pain and swelling to increase mobility.
  • Relieves back pain, muscle spasms, headaches, joint stiffness, strains/sprains, stress and fatigue.
Applications:
  • Pre-Adjustment: Relaxes muscle tension to attain easier, less painful and more complete spinal adjustment.
  • Post-Adjustment: Relaxes patient to allow spinal adjustments to stabilize and reduce tendency of muscle spasms to pull the spine out of alignment.
  • Headaches: This form of relaxation is especially beneficial for headaches caused by nervous tension or spinal sprains/strains.
  • Poor Circulation: Heat and massage are both especially beneficial for increasing circulation. It not only increases capillary permeability, but lymphatic flow as well.
  • Joint Stiffness: The heat increases circulation and allows for more pliable joint capsules supporting ligaments/tendons, muscular attachments and surrounding soft tissues.
  • Increased Flexibility: Through generalized relaxation of mind and muscle tension, circulation is increased and more pliable soft tissue becomes available.
Benefits:
  • Flotation: There is minimal strain on weight-bearing joints and few, if any, muscles are required to hold the body up in position. These two conditions help relax the body resulting in an increased physiologic response.
  • Heat: Heat is evenly conducted through the skin and into the muscles and soft tissues of the body. It increases blood and lymphatic circulation, increases metabolism and has a sedative effect.
  • Massage: The pressure of the water increases venous and lymphatic flow resulting in stimulation and increased molecular motion in the skin that can aid the healing process while working out trigger points in the muscles.
In Summary:
The hydrotherapy tables allow the body to be buoyant, so there is minimal strain on weight-bearing joints. The heat is then conducted throughout the skin and into the muscles and soft tissues of the back. Internal pumps then propel the water in a double wave "action" that provides a deep tissue massage to all areas of the spine simultaneously. The pressure of the water against the body provides a massage, and therapy is then applied to different parts of the body by changing position. The combined effects of the flotation, heat and massage include an increase in circulation, relief from sore muscles, increased mobility and relaxation.

MASSAGE CHAIR
What it does:
  • Equipped with Human Touch Technology.
  • Combines compression, rolling, kneading and percussion modalities.
  • Relieves tension and reduces pain while revitalizing the body.
Benefits:
  • Compression: Combines alternating strokes and pressure on the paraspinal muscles. It helps improve mobility, flexibility and overall posture. It also "rocks" the body, taking the client to a more relaxed state.
  • Rolling: Designed to warm up and loosen the muscles and prepare the back for a deeper massage. Its gentle rolling helps to dissolve tension.
  • Kneading: Eases soreness and works out the "knots" with a deep kneading massage. The circular motion helps lift and stretch the back muscles, improving circulation and bringing vital nutrients to the spinal area.
  • Percussion: Deepens the level of relaxation and helps replenish energy with a rapid tapping on the back muscles.
In Summary:
The Massage Chair utilizes Human Touch Technology as internal massaging discs move three-dimensionally, acting as "hands" through four modalities along the spine. It delivers a series of compression, rolling, kneading, and percussion that help stimulate the body, dissolve tension, and reduce pain.
