Your First Visit
Upon entering our office, our receptionist will welcome you as a member of our family. We will request that you complete our patient forms if you have not already done this. This paperwork provides us with your health history and information on your condition.
Digital Images (X-rays)
Depending on your specific condition, we may take digital images (x-rays) as well. Digital Imaging helps us develop the most effective treatment plan for you, and alert us of any serious spinal conditions. Most people are amazed once they see their images up close. In some cases, they can even identify their misalignments and degeneration themselves. The x-rays will be reviewed with you to verify the location of any subluxations (misaligned vertebrae that damage the nerves and surrounding tissues and adversely affect your health). We do not x-ray pregnant moms and children under the age of five.
Next, you will have a consultation with one of our doctors to discuss your health-related problems, concerns, and potential treatment options. This initial visit is designed to learn more about you, your condition, and expectations to determine how chiropractic care can meet your goals. After your consultation you will receive a thorough examination consisting of chiropractic, neurological and orthopedic tests to evaluate the extent of your condition and to determine if the complaint may respond to chiropractic care. The xray's and your consultation will guide the doctor in creating a treatment plan specific to you and performing an effective spinal adjustment. However, nothing will be done in our office without your consent.
Report of Findings
If you choose to become a patient at Parkhurst Chiropractic, a personalized treatment plan will be developed for you. Treatment methods may include spinal manipulations, traction, cold laser therapy, manual therapy and/or decompression. An exercise plan aimed at building flexibility, strength and overall well-being in addition to nutritional and body-mechanics counseling may also be recommended.
Based on your history, examination and x-ray findings, it will be determined if chiropractic care can help your condition. If chiropractic care is not suitable for your condition, we readily refer patients to the appropriate health care provider and help you navigate the options presented to you. The doctor will share with you detailed findings and answer any questions including:
1. How can you help me?
2. How often do I need to come in?
3. What will my treatment cost?
After reviewing your health history, goals, and examining your spine and digital images, the doctor will discuss recommendations and notify you if your condition requires care with other providers. Your doctor will provide the best treatment and wellness program for your needs.
At the conclusion of this initial appointment, you can choose to experience your first treatment. This may include spinal adjustments, rehabilitative services, and/or other therapies. Treatment is interactive, so you can express concerns about the different styles of treatment anytime. We look forward to working with you to reach your health goals.
